Downtown Miami is currently the most important financial center on the East Coast. The Downtown district surprises with spectacular architecture, great social life and many tourist attractions.
Below you will find a list of the most important places to visit in Downtown Miami.
What to visit in downtown Miami?
BRICKELL AVENUE: This is Miami’s financial center and its main stretch is reminiscent of New York’s Wall Street. On the avenue abound large glass buildings that are home to large international banks.
BAYFRONT PARK: Another important attraction to visit in Miami Downtown is the Bayfront Park, a beautiful park located by the sea, which allows you to enjoy the best views of Biscayne Bay and the port of Miami. At the north end of Bayfront Park is an open-air amphitheater where concerts of all kinds are scheduled. If you take a walk through Bayfront Park you will see several memorials, such as one dedicated to the Space Shuttle Challenger crew. It is a good place to take a walk, have a picnic or sign up for the free activities that are organized there, for example yoga classes.
BAYSIDE MARKETPLACE: It is the place of the Downtown that attracts more tourists. This is a large shopping and leisure complex with plenty of shops and boutiques for shopping. Among the best known are the shops of Gap, Guess and Brookstone. There are also plenty of entertainment options, a great nightlife and many restaurants where to eat. Preciously in this place is located the famous Hard Rock Café, with its spectacular roof from which a guitar emerges.
BAY CRUISES: Biscayne Bay is the stretch of water that separates downtown from Miami Beach. A great option to enjoy the views of Downtown and Miami Beach is aboard cruises departing from the port located in the Bayside Marketplace. Most include a short tour of the mansions of the rich and famous who have the privilege of having a residence in Miami
PÉREZ ART MUSEUM MIAMI: This is Miami’s premier art museum, offering regular large-scale exhibits. You can find exhibitions of kinetic art, mobile sculptures, projections, performances and also pictorial art.
AMERICAN AIRLINES ARENA: If you’re strolling downtown, it’s hard to miss the American Airlines Arena, with its 3-story, 3,400-square-foot lit tent. The giant curved white structure, designed by the renowned firm Miami Arquitectonica, has a capacity for 19,600 spectators. It is a multi-purpose stadium, and in addition to the Miami Heat matches also take place most of Miami’s most massive concerts and shows. Artists such as Shakira, Taylor Swift and Adele perform here.
